The Special Education Support Service (SESS) operates to enhance the quality of learning and teaching in respect of special education provision. The SESS plays an important role within the Department of Education’s Inclusion Support Service, to assist schools in supporting children with special education needs.

SESS.ie functions as a valuable resource hub for educators in this field. The website features a vast amount of downloadable templates and documents about important topics such as teaching methods, inclusion, and assessment.

The previous version of SESS.ie was built on Drupal 6, which is approaching its end-of-life. Consequently, the website had outgrown its existing CMS and required an upgrade to a new platform that could easily support a large content backlog.

Monsoon Consulting helped to deliver this project by providing Design & User Experience consultation, Drupal Development, Hosting Services and internal team training.

We implemented several new features on the site that will greatly enhance the user experience. Firstly, the site is now responsive, allowing visitors to access SESS.ie from their preferred device. The improved homepage design is more intuitive for visitors to navigate. We implemented an enhanced layout for courses and events, with a new search facility on the event calendar. Featured events, course listings and other content blocks can now be easily managed by the SESS internal web team.
